My First Review - The Fitbit Flex!!

Hi Everyone!

This is my first review of anything on my new blog and I'm so excited to share the FitBit Flex with you!!

I hope you enjoy..

So this is the FitBit Flex in Pink, I recently purchased this a few days ago and I'm still figuring everything out, so bare with me.

Today is just my initial view of this product and then I'll post an update of how I'm getting on with it.

As you can see, it's very minimal. It doesn't look like there's anything too it?! Just looks like a regular wristband, but let me tell you.. It does so much more than just look nice on your arm!

I bought this mainly because I needed a bit of motivation in my life to actually get up and do something, even if it was to walk to the end of the road and back.

I'm not a very health conscious person so I figured this would be a good start. Luckily this also has the feature to track my sleep pattern (Which I personally love), I'm really hoping this will give me the motivation I'm looking for and help along side my new diet routine.

So, to start with, this is the packaging when you purchase this. (I think it looks pretty good?!) I bought mine from Tescos because it was cheaper than the regular site and I didn't have a lot of money to spend. The box is pretty well descriptive, it tells you what's in the box (of course) and all the different things you can keep track of!

The box contains:-

*USB Charging Port - This can be plugged into any USB port you already have.
*2 Wristbands to hold the tracker - These come in 2 sizes, Small and Large.
*Wireless Dongle - This, you can plug into your computer or laptop to wirelessly sync your Tracker!
*Tracker - This is what all your activity is tracked on!!

As I mentioned, the bands come in 2 sizes.. Small for the dantier wrist and Large for the slightly bigger "dantier" wrist (trying to be nice, I hope it's working..)

They only come with one clasp, so you'll need to swap it if necessary. It's so easy to apply and surprisingly enough, doesn't annoy you. This was a bit issue for me as I hate wearing things around my wrist and was worried that I would constantly feel it and want to take it off straight off again, This wristband is great! I can hardly feel it and that's even better if your going to wear it at night for the Sleep Tracking!

The USB charger looks so weird at first but it perfectly fits the tracker (obviously haha), You do have to make sure you put it in correctly or you could damage either the Tracker to the Charger and you definitely don't want that!

Thankfully you'll only see this once a week as you don't need to charge every night, I'll talk about this more later on!..

This here is the little Wireless Dongle for any laptop and/or computer, he helps the tracker connect to your computer/laptop and sync all of the data you've collected over the course of the day..

You can sync the data via Bluetooth and the FitBit app which I have kindly screenshot for you, you can see that if you scroll down to the bottom..

This is great if you always have your phone with you and want to see everything you've track right then and there.

Finally!! The tracker!!

This guy can do so much it's actually really impressive! First of all I have to say that this version of the FitBit trackers doesn't have a Heart monitor. The FitBit Charge, which is the next model up (I believe) has the heart monitor and more features than this one.

As you can see from this picture and the one below its quite small and doesn't look like much, but hold on one cotton picking second my friend.. These are the things he can do:-

*Track Steps
*Track Calories Burned
*Tracks Weight - Weight Loss or to maintain your weight.
*Calories Eaten
*Water intake
*Km walked
*Minutes Active
*Sleep Pattern/Hours Slept

There is another bonus that the FitBit trackers have, they all last up to 5 Days off charge. Yes! You did just read that right! 5 days without charging it!! *insert shocked face* ..That includes wearing it at night and tapping the device during the day to see how far along you are! I know, it's brilliant! I've had it for 2 days and I only needed to charge it once for an hour to get a full battery!..

Thats quite a lot for a tiny looking device don't you think?!.. BUT WAIT..... THERES MORE!.. Look down!

The tracker also features LED lights at the top of itself, these all mean something.

Now again, I've only had this for a few days so I'm still getting used to all of the different lights and what they do and mean but I have figured out some of them that I'll tell you about.

Ok, so if you want to track how much progress you've made on your steps through the day and can't get to your phone or computer to sync, double tap the device and it will flash some lights..

If it flashes 1 light - This means you've completed 20% of your steps goal..
If it flashes 2 lights - This means you've completed 40% of your goal..

In essence, each of these lights stand for 20%.. So all 5 lights means you've completed 100% of your daily goal of however many steps you've set it too.

Other lights I've seen is when you put it into Sleep Mode. To put it in Sleep Mode you tap the tracker a lot and you'll see 2 lights that start to dim and then go off, your now in sleep mode for the night and this also preserves the trackers battery to minimise charging.

To come out of Sleep Mode, tap it again a bunch of times and the you'll see 2 lights appear and then some more lights after that, these second bunch of lights tell you the battery percentage (I think they do anyway?!)..

Another feature is that you can set an alarm on the tracker via your phone or computer, this will activate a "Silent Alarm" for when you want to wake up and I'll tell you.. This was such a weird feeling! I have to admit.. It tickled my whole arm, but was very affective in waking me up because I started laughing!.. I'm definite awake now FitBit, Thanks..

But of course, you don't have to set this Silent Alarm, it's just an added bonus if you hate loud alarms. (Which I do.... With a passion)

It's quite simple to put the tracker in the band, you just have to make sure that you put it in the right way, but really there is only one way you can put it in.

The clasp and segments snap together really well and you don't have to worry about it coming off accidentally at all, it's very secure!..

See, simple and it looks so nice, these come in different colours of course. I just had to have the pink one though haha..

Now, don't quote me on this but apparently this wristband is Water Resistant, I haven't (yet) proved its resistance as I just bought it and don't want to risk breaking it yet. They say that you can wear it in the shower with no problem, washing our hands is fine and anything like that would be OK..

Just don't go swimming with it on, it will get damaged. That's what I believe anyway, many people say that swimming is ok, but I personally don't trust that theory.

Ok, so as much as I want to sing the Flex's praise.. I do have one concern about it and that's when it tacks my steps, I've noticed that I hit my first step goal pretty quickly today and I don't remember walking that much (I might have but I doubt it haha). I was thinking that maybe.. Just maybe.. It's tracking my wrists movements and thinking I'm walking when in actual fact im just typing or writing something, that thought did cross my mind but I will have to see..

Right! These are the app screenshots that I took and spoke of earlier, as you can see it tracks quite a bit and doesn't skimp on the details.

I'm reasonably impressed by how detailed this app is and as a bonus, I can tie this app in with another that I have called My Fitness Pal. That just tracks my food intake and it now tracks the steps I have taken from the FitBit app. This is very handy to have.

You can also track with your friends, be them from Facebook or our contacts.. If your friends or family have a FitBit tracker (any model) and the app, you can all compete with each other to see whose the healthiest or just cheer them on and be supportive! Completely up to you that one!..

As you can see, the Flex has something to offer people of all different kinds of athletic levels. Like I mentioned, I bought this just to get me going and keep me motivated, to try a be a little bit more healthier.. Anyway,  I hope you enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed writing it,

I will be writing an update in about a week to 2 weeks just to let you know how I got on with it and if it's made any difference to my activity level, let's hope it does because between me and you, I hate wasting money haha..

Till next time my lovely's.. XO
